Comic Book Day: How to Have a Heroically Good Time at C2E2
The Windy City is about to experience a pop culture whirlwind.
We may know Wednesday better as Comic Book Day, but why should the fun stop at mid-week? If you’re in Chicago, it doesn’t have to because C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, is happening this weekend. To help ensure that you have a heroically good time, we put together a few choice selections from the con’s programming.Watch the Throne – It may be one of the most divisive projects in recent comic book history, but, like the saying goes, you should never judge a book by its cover. Plus with guests like J. Michael Straczynski, Brian Azarello, Adam Hughes, Amanda Conner, Dan DiDio and more, you’d be crazy not to check out DC’s Before Watchmen panel. Bonus high fives all around if you cosplay as Alan Moore’s beard.
Grimm Portent – What do Cersei Lannister, the director of Metalocalypse and terrifying German children’s tales have in common? They’re all a part of Zenescope’s upcoming Grimm Fairy Tales animated series, which will be discussed in detail at their Expand-a-Brand panel. Then be sure to read our interview with Jon Schnepp and Benjamin Jackendoff to get the low-down on their big plans for the series.
War Heroes – What’s the only thing better than reading Avengers vs X-Men? Meeting some of the creative talents behind it! With guests like Matt Fraction, Axel Alonso, Jason Aaron, Rick Remender, Dan Slott, Jeph Loeb and more in attendance, paying a visit to the House of Ideas is one of the best ideas you could have all weekend.
The Write Stuff – Are you the next Stan Lee? Hone your storytelling ability with some of the industry’s finest at Archaia Presents: How to Tell a Better Story Through World-Building. Just remember to write us into your story (as the heroes or at least the wise-cracking sidekicks) once you make it big.
Nerdvengers Assemble – Whatever your plans are this weekend, make sure to clear your schedule on Friday at 4:15PM because Chris Hardwick and Nerdist Channel guests Nerdist Industries Live! will be taking over the IGN Theater. Join the crew later that night at the Vic Theater at 8PM for the Nerdist Podcast Live! Bonus high fives all around if you cosplay as Matt Mira.
