Comic Book Day: New York Comic Con Edition
What we’ll be doing, and what you should.
This weekend, we’re going to live (Big) Apple-y ever after, as New York City’s Javits Center becomes pop-cultural ground zero and your new favorite place to be. Some of you have traversed this terrain before, but don’t panic, NYC newcomers. We know there’s a lot to take in, and a long
weekend might not cover it if you’re still busy dithering over choices. So let’s start by telling you where our guys are.
The Nerdist booth (#1851) will be teaming up with
ThinkGeek to deliver some spiffy swag. Sign up for Nerdist News at the
event, and you could win a Tauntaun sleeping bag, Wampa rug, Sonic Screwdriver universal remote or even a big bundle of Star Trek
stuff. If you’re reading this, you may already be signed up – so
persuade a buddy to do it too, and split the prizes if you win.
Meanwhile, Chris Hardwick will be hosting multiple panels, including some you’d expect – The Walking Dead (with a ton of talent from the show), Legendary Comics (with Guillermo del Toro and surprise guests) – and at least one you might not: The Bay, where he’ll be speaking with Barry Levinson about the Diner director’s latest dramatic change of pace, a found-footage horror movie. He’ll also be signing at the Legendary booth (#1620) from 3-4 pm Saturday, and there’ll be a live Nerdist podcast at the Best Buy Theatre, 1515 Broadway, on Friday night. Also signing at the Legendary booth will be Mark Waid, Shane Davis and Matt Wagner – check out Legendary’s full schedule for days and times.
We also recommend stopping by ComiXology’s booth (#1133) for a hands-on look at the digital future of comics, a screening of something Tron, a first-look at Chloe Moretz as Carrie, autograph opportunities with unusual celebrities like Metallica’s Kirk Hammett…and a very unusual singalong.
