E3 2013: Our 5 Favorite Games
Don’t hate the player – love the game.
Super Mario 3D World – While games like Mario Kart 8 were a blast to play, it was Super Mario 3D World which thrilled us the most. With 4-player co-op for the first time ever and clever new features, this is Mario at its best and a must-buy for Wii U owners.
Tales of Xillia – Since the mid-nineties, the Tales series has been a staple in any discerning JRPG fan’s library and Namco Bandai’s Tales of Xillia is no exception. With addictive, active combat, lush visuals and a sprawling story, it’s worth the price of admisssion.
Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies – We trust that there won’t be any objections to Phoenix Wright’s latest outing, which looks gorgeous on the Nintendo 3DS and promises more of the series’ signature silliness, groanworthy puns and cross-examining action.
Metal Gear Solid V – Konami impressed us with a Castlevania that lets you play as Dracula, but they blew us away with the open world expansiveness of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hideo Kojima’s sprawling stealth actioner had our jaws agape, especially after the director’s cut trailer.
Final Fantasy XV – The perpetually delayed Final Fantasy Versus XIII finds new life on the PS4 and a new name – Final Fantasy XV. With stunning graphics and the return of Tetsuya Nomura’s guiding hand, this might just be Final Fantasy‘s return to form. With Kingdom Hearts III also confirmed for PS4, it’s a good time to be a Square Enix fan.
