Film Friday: Rev Your Engines for Getaway

Plus, Ultra Spader and capturing flags

Drive Fast – Would you get in a Mustang Shelby careening down the streets of Sofia, Bulgaria, driven by Ethan Hawke with police cars hot on its tail? Selena Gomez would, and does in the new film Getaway which boasts wall-to-wall car chase scenes that make Jason Bourne look like Jerry Seinfeld’s dad. We interviewed Getaway‘s director, Courtney Solomon, who gave us the inside scoop on the signature look which you can read at Nerdist.com, and check out our review of the film while you’re there.

Age of Spader – He’s been a lawyer in Boston, he’s been an office manager in Scranton and he’s even been a negative number in Los Angeles (Less Than Zero, anyone?) but now James Spader can add demented robot supervillain in the Marvel Universe to his list of jobs and locations as he’s been tapped to be the titular baddie in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whether he will just do the voice or will provide mo-cap is unknown, but we can bet his Ultron will be super condescending.

Cool (stunt) Ranch – In honor of the new film I Declare War being released today, we were sent on a secret mission to The Stunt Ranch as part of the Alamo Drafthouse Roadshow screening of the movie. What better way to promote a film about kids playing war than a massive outdoor paintball match? To read about the event, and to see some footage of it yourself, head on over to Nerdist.com.
