Geek This Week: Turkey, Shrimp and Stamina

Plus: Jimmy Pardo’s Pardcast, and a sword to make you go Wii.

The Fry-nal Frontier – With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’d like to show our greatest gratitude that William Shatner is still as self-important as ever. He’s earned it. The master of the hand gesture, dramatic pause and dubious hair has a seasonal gift for all of us, as he puts his talents to demonstrating the dangers of deep-frying any and all Great Birds of the Galaxy.

GAMESLinky Love – We’re always thankful for a new Zelda game, and anticipate a lot of saber-slinging – Wii style – when Skyward Sword hits stores Sunday. This prequel to Ocarina of Time gives our hero Link new abilities, like a stamina meter that lets him run up walls. Because they still haven’t invented Mountain Dew in Skyloft yet.

MOVIESFeet, Don’t Fail Us Now – Why are we recommending a sequel about dancing penguins that costars Robin Williams? Two words: George Miller. Need two more? Mad Max. With The Road Warrior, Beyond Thunderdome and Babe: Pig in the City, the Australian auteur has proven himself the master of sequels that add to the original in radically new ways. In the case of Happy Feet Two, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt as a pair of Krill shrimp unhappy with their place on the food chain have our attention. We also like how the title spells out the word “two.”

TVBeg Your Pardo – Conan O’Brien’s right hand man, er, other right hand man after Andy Richter (Does that makes him his left hand man?), Jimmy Pardo, has been doing Never Not Funny for nine seasons and next Friday is his 3rd annual Pardcast-A-Thon. For 12 hours straight Jimmy will stream the funny to raise money for Smile Train. Over 20 guests are scheduled to drop by including Sarah Silverman, Greg Behrendt and Walter Koenig from Star Trek. One of these things is not like the others.
