Week in Review: Hello Kitty Takes Flight and Doraemon Goes Big

Plus, Attack on Titan Nendoroids and My Little Pony manga!

Fly the Kawaii Skies – Hello Kitty, everyone’s favorite mouthless meower, is one of the most popular franchises on the planet and her image is emblazoned on pretty much everything you can think of. Except a plane…until now, that is. As of September 18th, the first ever Hello Kitty airliner makes its inaugural landing at LAX (from its home at EVA Airlines in Taiwan). No word yet on in-flight entertainment, but we’ll go out on a limb and guess it’ll be painfully cute!

Manga is Magic – Calm down, Bronies; your wait is almost over. A few months back, we reported that My Little Pony was due to receive its own manga adaptation, and now, with the publication of the series’ first chapter, we’ve got some images from it. While it looks to be pony business as usual, expect this series to become EXTREMELY popular as fans will be champing at the bit for more.

Titan-Sized Fun –  What would an edition of your Week in Review be without mentioning current anime juggernaut, Attack on Titan? We all know the manga and anime are the most popular of the new season and now we can get our greedy hands on some actual (smaller) titans. Good Smile Company will be releasing a set of Nendoroid toys sure to alternately delight and terrify any fan of giant man-like monsters.

Life-Sized Blue Alien Cyborg Cat – Love Doraemon but can’t think of a “big” enough way to let those in your life know about your passion for the blue cat thing? Bandai has a solution for you: a massive, four-and-a-half foot tall stuffed Doraemon, available for the low, low price of $1,952. Really, it’s a pittance when you’re trying to delight your otaku friends and bewilder all the others.
