Weekly Round-up: Surprising Sodas, Segway Sequels and a Brawler’s Birthday
Plus some sporty shirts from NERV HQ.
Take a Seat – If you’re anything like us, your number one gripe with the Segway is all that uncomfortable standing. Fortunately, Honda has answered the call of the lazy with its latest invention, the Uni-Cub, a one-wheeled personal mobility device which you can move simply by shifting your weight. At long last, we’re one step closer to living like the people in WALL-E.
Happy Birthdouken – Legendary fighting game franchise Street Fighter turns 25 this year and CAPCOM is pulling no punches with its 25th Anniversary Edition Box Set. Featuring a 64 page art book, 4 different Street Fighter games, 11 discs of music, every anime movie and episode of the animated series and awesome exclusives like a light-up Ryu statue, this Zangief-sized $149.99 box set is a collector’s dream come true (provided you’re a PS3 or Xbox 360 owner). Honestly though, we’ll be happy so long as the phrase “on-disc DLC” is never uttered again.
Throw a NERVball – In anticipation of the upcoming Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, the Evangelion store is swinging for the fences with a line of t-shirts featuring Asuka, Rei and Unit 01 in the team colors for each of the twelve teams in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball League. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that oversized Pen-Pen mascot costumes are next.
The Taste of Summer – While we get excited about flavored Pepsi like Wild Cherry, Japan gets treated to a wide variety of limited edition seasonal flavors. Having previously enjoyed flavors like Strawberry Milk, Baobab and Cucumber, Japanese taste buds will be treated to Salty Watermelon-flavored Pepsi starting on July 24. The best part is that you can use the leftover Pepsi to clean up those stains on the wall from where your brain just exploded.
